for once, i am glad xumb tagged me with this one. been wondering when am i gonna get tagged for this. hmm…
so, let’s go.
the albums that changed my life.
1. Roxette Tourism (Roxette)
Got a hold of this album in the year 1994, if I’m not mistaken. It was a gift from my dad’s cousin. She used to own a record store in Pasir Mas, Kelantan. Awesome bukan? A compilation of Roxette’s known and some unknown song, live recordings, and unfamiliar songs you’d love to listen to. Listening to this always remind me of my brother.
2. Let Your Dim Light Shine (Soul Asylum)
My first taste of grunge (if I ever categorize my music) was unfortunately not Nirvana. A little softer than Nirvana or Alice in Chains. But I still like it. Bought it for ‘Misery’ and ‘Just Like Anyone’ (OMG, Claire Danes!) but it was worth it. The whole album, awesome.
3. Rage Against the Machine
Need to say more? This album helped through my late teen years, and found me meaning of friendship. Yeah, it’s very political. But screaming with it for no good reason, AWESOME…
4. Half Hour of Power (Sum 41)
It’s their first album if I’m not mistaken. Very experimental and fun to listen to. I’ll pop this in if I need to get to somewhere in 30 minutes. Always remind me of Biggmobile T_T
5. Keasbey Nights (Catch 22)/(Streetlight Manifesto)
My welcome to adulthood. I discovered this in 2000, thanks to my brother. The best song ever, ‘Supernothing’ and ‘Kristina’. Hehe jiwang cam sial.
6. Something to Write Home About (The Get Up Kids)
Best album ever made, period.
7. Greatest Hits 1984 – 1987 (Reggie and the Full Effect)
Seriously, the world need to chill and listen to Reggie once in a while.
8. Myths, Legends and Other Amazing Adventures, Vol. 2 (The Aquabats)
If I ever get to form a band, I’ll have a band like The Aquabats. Their songs are awesome, suitable for anyone from 5 to 500 years old. It’s just a fun band to listen and dance to.
9. Bleed American (Jimmy Eat World)
Two songs, ‘Praise Chorus’ and ‘If You Don’t, You Don’t’. Of course the whole album is worth listening to. But the two songs, always have a special effect on me.
10. I Am The Movie, Commit This to Memory, Even if It Kills Me (Motion City Soundtrack)
If I am ever going to mention Motion City Soundtrack on this list, I have to mention all three studio albums. These albums could just summarize my entire adulthood. It is that awesome. I know not so many of us like the sound of synthesizers, but just give Motion City a try. Their lyrics are… ahh, vicks vapor rub to my chest.
There you go, I want to put so many more. But that would probably be ‘My 10 (and more) Most Listened to Bands List’. I wanted to write more about the list but I figured I just don’t, because I’m not good at reviewing music. My ‘ear candies’ might be ‘psychotic moans’ to others. So if you’re curious, use the download thinggy on your computer to sample some sounds. Want some recommendations on the list, contact me (or don’t).
